Dear Rotarians,
Good day to all.

Well, I have received instructions from DG Chew Ghin Bok to initiate a fund-raising drive to help some flood victims in Sabah.

“The interior of Sabah has experienced severe flood last week.
Many residents from the districts of Tenom, Keningau and Beaufort
have lost their homes.  Many of the poor subsistence farmers have
also suffered losses as their cash crop were washed away by the flood.
The local news papers have widely reported the flood.”

The RC of Kota Kinabalu (RCKK) has initiated a private “Flood Relief Fund”
raising this week. AG Halim has encouraged the other Rotary Clubs
in Kota Kinabalu to join in to contribute the Flood Relief Fund initiated
by RCKK. Of course, DG and I fully support the worthy project.

“RCKK intend to disperse the fund by next week to the victims so that they can rebuild their home soon.  it  is most likely RCKK will make donations to the affected poor families identified by the local community and/or localized reputable NGO, which are recommended by our members. RCKK may also consider channelling the relief funds through the local communities.”
Generous, DG has agreed to donate RM10,000 from the district disaster funds. DG has also requested a closing date for the fund-raising to be 10th March 2014 (for two weeks)
Rotary Clubs and individuals can bank in their donations to the RC of Kota Kinabalu.
The banking details are:
A/C Name: ROTARY CLUB OF KOTA KINABALU,
Bank:            STANDARD CHARTERED BANK MALAYSIA BHD
Account No:  3901-1547-4941

I hope all Rotary clubs can join hands to help our local flood victims in Sabah.
Leading, DG Ghim Bok has personally contributed RM3,000 this morning.

Thank you very much for your cooperation.

With best wishes,
PP Dr Ho
Chair, Disaster Relief Committee
