Dear Rotarians and friends,

I am preparing to leave for home from Cebu city today, as I am winding down the disaster relief work in the Philippines after spending 3 weeks in all, in 2 trips.

On Saturday, I was around to witness the arrival of the ten water filtration system units in Cebu city. One unit was installed, successfully tested to be operational for deployment in the rural communities in the disaster zones in Leyte and Samar soon. (By the way, the district contributed 4 units, Rotary Eclub of 3310 2 units, and RC Cebu 4 units.)

To round up, with the approval of DG Chew Ghim Bok, the following contributions were dispersed to the Philippines typhoon HAIYAN disaster:
1. USD50,000 to District 3860.
2. USD20,000 to District 3850.
3. USD10,000 to RC Ormoc
4. USD10,000 to RC Tacloban.
5. About USD4,000 for the water filtration system.

Well, I will continue to follow up later with reports on the stewardship of the above funds.

Last, but not the least, I sincerely wish to thank all Rotary clubs and individuals who have stepped forward to make this relief endeavour possible. And I also wish to convey the many ‘thank you’ messages I received for your kindness and donations from so many citizens in the Philippines.

Thank you.

With best wishes,
Dr Ho
