Dear Rotarians and friends,
Well, I spent two days in Ormoc and Tacloban to continue and follow-up on the disaster relief work.
RC Ormoc and RC Tablocan each agreed to sign the Memorandum of Agreement on the specific use of the donated USD10,000 each on re-roofing the damaged public schools. And when the projects are completed, they are duty-bound to give us a full report.
And I also witnessed that the donated materials to repair roofs were evenly distributed in both cities.
On Saturday morning, RC Tacloban members and I also participated in the distribution of food in a neglected village in the outskirt of Tacloban.
The Rotary Disaster Centre in Tacloban has been a catalyst and I can see that many other Rotary clubs and district have made good use of it – a soup kitchen was set-up; ShelterBox is using it as a store cum warehouse before deployment of the boxes; an array of medicine and donated food are placed there; Aquaboxes are being received.
Other volunteers groups like Humanity Affairs from UK, Posperity Catalyst, Australia also came to make use of the facility.
