Eczema is a very common disease which afflicts a large part of the population and generates healthcare costs of billions a year worldwide.  The estimated annual cost in the USA alone is one billion dollars.  The cost to patients in terms of their mental health/ sleep and self-confidence is immeasurable.

There have been many new therapeutics developed treat eczema of late, but these are extremely costly and mostly only useful in acute flares.  The mainstay of chronic eczema treatment remains patient education and lifestyle management. Despite this eczema remains a very poorly understood disease and there is an urgent need to educate sufferers on how to look after themselves better.
