Global 15 Day Plant Rich Diet Challenge

Industrialized animal agriculture is the world’s second-leading producer of human-caused methane emissions: 32% of the total, just behind the 35% generated by the fossil fuel industry.

The IPCC’s sixth Assessment Report, released this August, highlights the urgency of reducing human-caused methane emissions to buy us time as we rein in CO2 emissions. Eating less animal products (meat, dairy, eggs, fish and seafood) and more plant-based foods is one of the fastest and highest-impact steps to slash methane, curtail deforestation, prevent soil degradation, reduce water pollution, and free up increasingly scarce farmland and water to ensure we can raise enough food for our growing human population.

Keeping in view the massive resources that the current human dietary habits are depleting, The Plant Rich Diet Task Force has compiled a 15 Day Plant Rich Diet Challenge for Rotarians and the public. If you are wondering what a Plant Rich Diet is made of, then it is a diet that is rich in Whole Grains, Legumes, Vegetables and Fruits and less in animal products like meat, dairy, eggs, fish and seafood.

This challenge is meant to help educate people the hidden environmental cost associated with our food choices. We also intend to encourage Rotarians to take leadership in modifying the way the world eats so that we can leave behind a thriving planet for the future generations.

The challenge begins on 1st October 2021. Those who sign up receive a Starter Kit – a guide to equip the participants with helpful tips and information on how they can get started with the challenge.

The participants will receive one email everyday throughout the challenge with delicious recipes, latest scientific findings, invitation to an exciting speaker series where scientists, entrepreneurs, cooking enthusiasts will be delivering talks on the subject of the MOST POWERFUL demand side solution to the Climate Emergency.

If you are above 18 years of age then please register for the challenge NOW!
