NEWSFLASH (District 3310 Rotary Day)

Tuesday, 5 March 2019

As part of a move to increase membership in Rotary and to highlight the work of the Rotary movement, Rotary International’s President Barry Rassin has earlier in his term of office encouraged clubs and districts to organise informal community event called Rotary Day/s. Rassin said “Rotary Days events will offer you the chance to have an impact in your community, build long-term partnerships, increase interest in membership, and improve Rotary’s image”. In response, District 3310 has designated 23 Feb 2019 as Rotary Day. Many clubs followed up on DG Henry’s call to come up with programmes for Rotary Day. They worked hard to help translate Rassin’s wish into concrete actions. As a result, many events took place across the district on 23 Feb 2019 with the events being beamed live across social media platform. The photographs shown below are highlights of the events which took place on 23 Feb 2019.

In Singapore Rotary Day was publicised in our local media (English and Chinese) to create greater public awareness of Rotary. There were many events held and these include Zumba mass exercise, health talk of stroke, comedy, magic and puppet show. MP Denise Phua, Mayor of Central Singapore District was invited to grace the occasion and to give a speech.
