Club Name: Rotary Club of Likas Bay
Project/Event Date: 1 Sep, 17
Venue/ Location: Likas Bay

Overview:

My fellow Rotarians,

Naomi and myself would like to wish all of you a happy prosperous and rewarding new year 2018.

During the last 6 months of our Rotary year many clubs have carried out their community service projects for the benefits of their communities locally and abroad jointly with clubs in other Districts through Global Grants (GG).

Many of these service projects and club activities have been highlighted in the local newspapers and internet through FB to enhance the image of Rotary. Well done..

I have also approved several Global Grant Projects already over the last few months. Our District could have done more GG projects if we have more DDFs. However please continue to submit your GG applications as the District Rotary Foundation Committee will do our best to look for funding for worthy projects.

On our District  contribution to the Rotary Foundation we are still way below the set target. Clubs that have promised to contribute to TRF please make your donation as soon as possible so that our District will achieve the set target.

I am very happy to know a few End Polio and Rotary Foundation fund raising events have been planned in the District for the next few months.

I am confident club Presidents Rotarians and friends of Rotary will support this good cause so that we can meet the target contribution of USD 400,000.00 plus.

On membership our District has been doing well so far with a net increase of over 100 members but sadly we also lost some members through resignation. We need to attract and induct more new members in the coming months to make sure we cross our set membership target. Clubs that have yet to induct any new members please work on it immediately.

Special attention will be concentrated on clubs with less than 20 members as our Rotary Zone Coordinator RID Basker and RC Zone 6B PDG David Tong have set strong emphasis and priority on these “small clubs” with less than 20 members.

District Membership Chair Khushroo and his committee will be working hard with the club Presidents of these clubs to find a way and make a concerted effort to increase their membership.

At the same time we are working hard to charter new clubs after chartering the RC of Kuching Unity City in December 2017 in the coming months.

In the second half of our Rotary calendar many activities and events will be happening starting with our District Training Seminar in JB in March 15 to 18th and then the District Conference in May 11 to 13th in Kota KInabalu.

The online registration are ready for you to register now. Register now!!

After the festive seasons let us all move forward with greater vigor to achieve our targets and continue to serve humanity to make a difference in 2018.

Best regards

Datuk Lee Chuen Wan
D3310 District Governor
