Deepavali Fellowship Night, New Members Induction, Vocational Award

Overview: Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu celebrated Deepavali with special Indian menu and the third Spouses’ Night of this Rotary Year on Monday 16 October 2017 at the Residence, Hyatt Regency Kinabalu. President Ravi was dressed for the occasion in traditional Indian long kurta.   President Ravi also used the festive occasion to make a personal donation of RM 1000 towards the Mangrove Seedling Planting program of the Joint KK Clubs activity headed by Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu Pearl. Rotarian Fauziah Mat Nor received the cheque on behalf of RCKK Pearl.   The Club also inducted two new members on the same day  to take its current membership to 68 members. The newly inducted members are: 1. Mr. Dominic Chung is a restaurateur and manager of the Party Play Lifestyle Restaurant on Gaya Street. He is sponsored by Rotarian Jason Lee. 2. Mr. Joseph Selestine is a restaurateur and manager of the Cafeteria Roti Chai in Metrotown. He is sponsored by Rotarian Benjamin Lo.   On the same day, the Club also presented the first Vocational Award for 2017-18 to En Amdan bin Amat. En Amdan has been in the service of Hyatt Regency Kinabalu since 2000 in the Event Service Food &Beverages department and now holds the position of Team Leader. His name was proposed by President Ravi for his dedication to his duties and willingness to walk the extra mile for meeting the requirements of the customers. His courteous bearing and humility has touched one and all in our Club which holds its weekly meetings at Hyatt. President Ravi presented the certificate and cash award of RM1000 to En Amdan.
