Overview: Rotary Club of Tanjung Aru and Rotary Club of Kota Kinabalu jointly organized a cataract screening camp on 16 December 2017 for members of the Kota Kinabalu Widows Welfare Association (KKWWA). Cataract Finder volunteers led by Mr Eddy Madiun of KPJ Sabah Specialist Hospital screened 60 patients, of whom ten were detected to have cataract. These patients were given sponsorship letters for the cost of intra-ocular lenses that would be paid by the Rotary Clubs under the Global Grant Project ‘Gift of Sight Sabah’ and the name-list forwarded to Eye Department of Hospital Queen Elizabeth. The Tanjung Aru Rotarians were led by President Dato’ Stanley Tee and consisted of Past Presidents Datuk Margaret Fung, Anita Dhawan, Datin Margaret Fong, Phang Ah Cheng and others. Cataract Project Chairman Rotarian Paul Thien led the RCKK team that consisted of President Ravi, Past Presidents Robert Lai and Chiang Wei Chia, Rotarians Alvin Chong and Benjamin Lo as well as Rotary spouses Margaret, Jenny and Sylvia. The occasion was also the 63rd birthday of President Ravi and marked by cake cutting and a delicious lunch prepared by members of KKWWA and fellowship.
