Kiau Kids Bird Festival

Overview: Kiau Kids Bird Festival: The Festival, is a part of our landmark vocational service project – Bird Guide Training and was held at the Primary School SK Kiau, on Sat 27, Jan 2018 from 8am to 2pm. Seventy children participated in the Festival that featured: A) Slide show on birds of Mt Kinabalu by Mr. Denis Degullacion, Bird Guide Trainer B) Drawing, coloring and bird call mimicry competition for primary school children of SK Kiau C) Exhibition of photographs of Birds of Kinabalu D) Presentation of certificates and booklet on common birds of Mt Kinabalu to the school children. E) Presentation of Awards to winners of the competition. The objectives of the Festival were: Create awareness about the importance of conserving wild life Create Awareness about Bird Guiding as a means of livelihood Recognition of Iconic species of birds in the forests of Kinabalu Guest of Honour was Dr Ewon Benedick, Political Secretary to YB the Deputy Chief Minister. Rotarian Stephen Sutton, the Adviser for the BGT Project, Rotarians Paul Foronda (Vocational Service Director) and Kevin Padasian took active part in helping the Bird Guide Team to organize the event. President Ravi and President Elect Philip Koh also participated in the Festival.
