Following the successful joint community service in providing more than 250 sets of tables and chairs to SMJK Yok Bin last year, OCBC Bank (M) Bhd and Rotary Club of Kota Famosa again work in collaboration to equip the science lab of SJK (T) Rumbia, to better our community.
Members from RCKFM together with the management and staff of OCBC visited SJK (T) Rembia this morning at their existing location to hand over the donation of RM15,000.00 contribution for the science lab equipment and teaching aids which aims to provide a better learning environment to the students.
25 OCBC management and staff together with members of RCKFM were led by Ms Venice Goh, Regional Manager and Malacca Branch Manager of OCBC and President Davendran arrived at the school this morning and was treated to sumptuous traditional Indian breakfast prepared by the school before engaging with the students in games.
The visitors then proceeded to the existing science lab and observed some unerring and fun science experiment carried out by the students using equipment contributed by OCBC. the guest was also entertained by the traditional dance troupe of the school.
Deputy Chairman of the School Board of Mr Muniandi, Treasurer Mr Rajagopal and Headmistress Mdm Kamalapathy informed the guests that the school had to occupy classrooms of SK Rembia more than half a century as the school do not have her own place. The Board of Directors had gone through many challenges to collect donations and eventually purchased a plot of land measuring approximately over 2 acres and 2 blocks of class rooms of 2 and 3 storey each were built on it under the supervision of the Ministry of Education. The construction of the new school premises had just completed and the Board of Directors are now working on the access road to the new premises and to furnish the classrooms and other necessities thereat.
The School Board of Directors hope to complete the task before the start of the new academic term next year so that students will enjoy the peaceful and conducive surrounding of the new premises and to end the dilemma of occupying premises of others. The School Board of Directors thus appeal to the public for assistance in cash or kind so that the moving exercise can be completed on time.
