MY FELLOW ROTARIANS,
Tonight, as the clock strikes passed midnight, the Rotary year 2021- 2022 begins.
It is the start of OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER TO REACH OUT TO CHANGE LIVES.
This too marks the beginning of my term as your District Governor.
When our Rotary International President Shekhar Mehta called his District Governors
the CHANGE MAKER, it came to my mind that for a start, I have made the change
by being the first woman to lead our District after 30 years of its inception. I once
again thank all of you for your confidence in me. I will do my utmost best and
together we will excel to do more for our community in needs.
I know you are thinking of the pandemic, so do I. We should think positive and
adapt to the situation to bring out the best of us and our club members. What are
we capable of doing? When there are changes, uncertainties come with it.
Change is here to stay for uncertainty is for us to adapt and make an impact.
As the new term begins, I hope that we are able to reflects just for a moment,
the activities, fellowship in the club, bonding within members and the type of
giving you wish to contribute. Despite the limitations imposed upon us by the
lockdown, I call upon you to continue to be in contact with your fellow club
members so as to keep the friendship and bonding alive and strong. You
are in the best position to bind your club and the members together.
Unity amongst us FIRST is important before we could reach out to others.
Unity must begin within the club and then beyond to all regions of our District
in carrying out our activities be it club meetings, seminars, joint club projects,
buddy walk, ride, planting trees, cleaning the beach, gathering of families and
friends of Rotary or even Rotary members having a WGmeal together, we can
do it. Together we build cohesiveness, understanding, trust, teamwork, and
fellowship that strengthen our ability to expand our reach and increase our
engagement.
We can reach the sky in anything we do if we put our mind and heart to it. For
many of us, Rotary is like our second home. We love Rotary, argue over Rotary
and non- stop talking about Rotary. Our passion for Rotary makes a difference
to our lives as we help with kindness and smile with a giving heart. In whatever we
do, we must enjoy doing it, love it and be happy about it.
Please join me in this new chapter of our Rotary journey to
REACH OUT TO CHANGE LIVES.
Thank you and take care always.
Yours in Rotary
Dolly Yeap
