Good to be back to my “desk” again after an absent of few weeks. The last month or so
have indeed been very hectic for Kalimah and me. And, I noticed that from your
newsletters and Facebooks, many of you too have been very busy with your Rotary
programs.
We just had a fantastic District Conference here in Kota Kinabalu attended by about 282 participants including 53 spouses. The occasion was made more meaningful with the presence of the RI President’s Special Representative PRID Dr Kenneth Collins and his charming spouse Past President Diane Collins who came all the way from Perth, Australia.
We have completed our planned road shows of Membership Development and Retention with overwhelming success, and about to initiate the phase two of the program with local support and organizing to help the weak and sick clubs and also mentoring the new inducted members particularly from the weak clubs. By intensifying our activities of phase two by each region we will have better chance of reaching our 2,000 members target.
The UN – Rotary Day was celebrated for the first time in Rotary District 3310 in collaboration with the United Nations Association of Singapore (UNAS) on the 5 November 2011 followed by a very elegant banquet event attended by about 150 guests from both the diplomatic communities based in Singapore and Rotarians.
THE 21ST DISTRICT CONFERENCE 18-20 November is just about 15 days away and I am proud to mention the final preparation for this event is well underway by the hardworking committee comprising of 7 Rotary Clubs namely RC Kota Kinabalu, RC Likas Bay, RC Kota Kinabalu South, RC Luyang, RC Tanjung Aru, RC Kinabalu Sutera and RC Penampang.
The day for the UN-Rotary Day Singapore is fast approaching but there has been a very little support by leaders of Rotary and Rotarians for our inaugural UN-Rotary Day.
I am back. The last month or so have been very hectic for Kalimah and I. Hotel rooms have become our homes and Airsia our transport. Almost every night is a late night. Though tired, we both have truly enjoyed ourselves.

When I was in Kuching last weekend to attend the Membership Seminar, two fellow Rotarians asked me “DG when is your next letter from the desk?” I was pleasantly surprised. They seemed eager wanting to know what is coming next… wanting to know more.
Our visit to Singapore on the 29th-31st July were filled with Rotary events and fellowship starting from friday evening until sunday afternoon when we departed for the airport back to Kota Kinabalu.
