After the first night in the JS Resort, our City Hotel was luxury. The Chinese Restaurant Owner across the street gave us much support. He and his coffee shop attendants did overtime for us to serve us breakfast at 1:00am. After a 45 minute drive back to where we ended our walk yesterday, we started the next leg of our walk.
02:10: Start walking a mile-stone 39km.
03:05: All what we can see in pitch darkness:
242 km to Kota Kinabalu, 35 km to Telupid – our next stop-over. Safety is of utmost importance.
Walking in the dark – be visible to traffic.
Back-up vehicle covering the last walker against traffic from the back.
07:00: The scenery on the way.
08:00: Morning mist over the hills:
AG Erich & PP Sylvester taking a short rest.
Private rest:
No toilets all the way! Do it in nature.
08:20: Passing a Catholic Church
08:45: Some rare wildlife.
09:10: It’s getting hilly
Now the ugly:
Smoky lorries
Litter everywhere along the road. A potential project for Rotarians to help improve?
09:30: A welcome relieve:
A coffee shop along the road.
Never before tasted a coffee so good!
09:50: Passing a Mosque:
11:00: Finally, we see our destination of today
Distance covered: 37 km. Total time taken by most walkers, including rests: 9 hour 05 minutes.
Some of today’s casualties:
