Dear friends,

At the Rotary Club of Kulai installation night event yesterday, amongst the many good people and Rotarians I met, I also had the good fortune to talk to a good friend from Hong Kong Mr Cheng Huan, dear brother of Rotarian Dolly Yeap, who has great news for all. Mr Cheng Huan suggested that I share it with you. He is seeking Rotary’s help in Malaysia and Singapore to identify and recommend poor students here to benefit from The Enid Howes Trust.

“The Enid Howes Trust has been established to honour the memory & life of a gentle, kind, generous, and compassionate woman as well as to commemorate the life of Douglas Howes, her devoted and loving husband.

The Trust’s primary aim is to enable poor students to continue their education and to encourage them in their later lives to assist other deprived students caught in similar situations.

The emphasis of the Trust is, primarily but not exclusively, to help students in Malaysia/ Singapore and Scotland, those being the places where Douglas and Enid Howes worked, married, and then retired.

The Trust can assist needy students from Malaysia, Singapore and UK at any educational level.

Each application for financial assistance is considered on its own merits.

The Trust may also make donations to worthy charitable organisations whose aims are compatible with the broad aims of the Trust.

In the first instance an applicant for financial assistance should send to the Trustees a letter or email not exceeding 1,000 words in length and containing any information the applicant believes is relevant to the application.

A recent photograph of the applicant should be enclosed.

The letter should provide a brief account of the applicant’s education so far, the family circumstances, as well as any future plans and ambitions.

After considering an applicant’s initial letter, the Trustees may require the applicant to submit further documentation and to attend an interview. All travelling expenses will be paid by the Trust.

Applications may be made at any time of the year.

Letter of application should be addressed to Mr Cheng Huan Q.C., S.C.,
The Enid Howes Trust, 15th Floor, Dina House, 11 Duddell Street, Central, Hong Kong
or email to enidhowestrust@gmail.com

Trustees: Mr Cheng Huan (Chairman), Ms Rena Donald, Mr Graham Wilde. “

I wish you all the best and help any deserving student in need. Thank you.

With best wishes,
Dr Ho
