Dear Rotarians,

The Philippines has appealed for international aid to help tens of thousands marooned by Typhoon Ketsana flash floods, according to many news reports.

Well, the district 3310 disaster relief committee has started initial work and has decided to help the victims in the Manila area first. I am pleased to inform that DG Datuk Latip has proposed to offer a financial assistance of USD1,000 to get things going.

As committee chair, I will coordinate work with PP Jesse in district 3790 in the meantime. I am wondering whether the other clubs in the district wish to join the district’s effort to collect more funds to aid our neighbours knowing that they have come to our aid in the Johor floods in 2006/07.

RC Johor Bahru President Dr Anga has agreed in principles to allow the club to be the collection centre for the district donation effort.

What do you think?

Regards
PP Dr Ho
Disaster relief committee chair.
